Carb help please...
1440 with briggs 14 hp.. Cub died while mowing.... diagnosed issue as fuel solenoid wire. Replaced with new solenoid and it started right up...BUT... I'm now seeing gas come from the 90 degree tube at the top in this ...hopefully attached... picture.
I don't remember removing anything from this when I pulled the air cleaner...and I see no tubing to indicated a fuel return line. My best guess is a vent, but it looks like there should be a tube attached to it so the gas could drain away from the hot engine...but there isn't. So... 1- should there be some kind of tube attached here? 2- and what would make gas come from this thing...bad float? Needle and seat?

It may have run for a short while on gas from the float bowl but without a gas hose connected to the 90 from the fuel pump it will die. Take another look for a fuel supply hose coming from the fuel pump and reconnect to the 90.

Sorry Possum, I don't know the answer to your question then. I thought I could be of some help, appears I was wrong.
BTW, welcome to 'only cub cadets'. There are fellows on the forum I'm sure will have the correct answer for you.

Pull the top of the carb off, you probably have some crud in the needle and seat. The 90 is a vent you can put a piece of hose on it so that it doesn't leak out on the top of the engine.
