You said that when you put it in reverse, the pto quit. Your new reverse switch is working. That's what the reverse switch does, it kills the pto. That is exactly why most reverse micro switches have the metal finger bent completely out of the way like yours was... Did you try just "engaging the pto" while not in reverse?

I found the issue: The lower connector on the toggle switch has/had a bad brass fitting for the brown wire. I was able to bend it to make it work. But, I would like to replace that connector. Any suggestions? Can I just get the connector and not the entire harness?
