Stuck/frozen throttle/choke cable
I have a 2015 XT1 with a 18HP Kohler engine. My throttle cable was frozen in our cold Upper Peninsula weather so I forced it and now the handle on the dash moves freely but the cable does respond where it meets the engine. I removed the screws from the dash and popped the steering wheel off but i am having trouble getting the dash removed due to the filling spout of the gas tank being in the way. I may be able to force it but don't want the plastic dash to crack. I'm wondering if the throttle cable can be popped out of the dash without taking the whole thing apart? It looks like it could be pried out with a flat head screw driver but again, that plastic face plate looks awfully prone to cracking. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

This forum generally deals with the older Cubs from the 60's, 70's and 80's, not many active members have a machine that new. The best advice I can give you is to post some pics of the dash and surrounding area.

I just tried to find out how it comes apart on the Cub parts site and they don't even show the choke cable. It looks like you'll need to take the gas tank out to get at the back side of the dash. Honestly if it was me I'd go to the auto parts store, pick up a universal choke cable and figure out a way to hook it up.

Is the handle itself plastic??? may have broken where the cable goes into the lever//// Or the lever arm itself snapped off... Haven't seen one but from the sounds of it.... There is a lot of plastic to get brittle in the cold....

It is a plastic handle. I'll probably just force and most likely break it. As mentioned above, I could always replace with another cable. Thanks for the input. I'll try tonight after work
