Well guys this site really helped me again as usual. Used the 782 with the ch18 swap for the first time to move a little bit of snow in saturday. LOVED IT!!! so much smoother and more usable power than the kt17. A lot less fuel it seemed also. Still don't have a muffler or muffler shroud for it but for now it will work fine. Sounds kinda cool with duals lol. Thank you to everyone who directly and indirectly helped! I have sold all my other cubs and decided to keep this one and so far I do not regret it at all!!! The only thing I do not like is the throttle lever is only moving to about half way before stopping. I can live with it for now. Just kinda bugs me.
Any tips in fixing that issue? I set the throttle up just like I did my old k series. As soon as the lever moves the engine responds

Good choice to keep the 782! Good job!
As far as the throttle goes, you should be able to adjust the linkage from the throttle to governor to give you more lever travel. |

Post a pic of how you have the throttle hooked up.

I just don't really understand how exactly. It seems simple stuff like this completely blows my mind. But wiring and retrofitting parts together is a breeze. This is also the first command Ive ever put a tool on. I'm sure it's something simple that I'm just missing

First:
I will say I've never seen this engine let alone worked on one. But as Sam said, and as I see it, if it is hooked as pictured and it should be to function correctly, then you only need to loosen the cable clamp on the throttle and move the cable jacket to the right, say 1/4" and retighten the clamp. Run it and check RPM's @ WFO--- should be 3600, if not readjust.

I couldn't agree with you more,
and I caught that it was a generic pix from the net. Hopefully he will hook it up as pictured, otherwise he is as you said, circumventing the gov. function which is a no-no! |

I have a repowered 2072 with a command 18 engine. If you hook it up as the google pic shows it will be correct. We adjusted the engine speed by moving the throttle cable in the clamp and retightening everything. The choke can be adjusted the same way so it closes and opens as it should. I do not recall what holes in the arms we have the wires hooked into.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
