Default 108 Followed me home

I was fortunate to find this 108 less than 5 minutes from my house and it followed me home LOL!!!!

I have a couple questions on it...1st is there a number on the carb to identify it? I need to get a rebuild kit for it and I was trying last night to see a number on it but didn't have any luck. It looks like the Kohler carb but not sure.

2nd - the hinge for the hood when closed there is too much of a gap between the nose casting and the front casting of the tractor. when looking at the 149 that part of the hinge is up under the plate further are those holes in the hinge slotted to allow for adjustment???

Congrats on the new cub, I bet it rides a little stiff with the springs facing the wrong way.

Hey Steve, that should have a #26 carb on it. Take the air filter cover off and shine a light into the throat of the carb, you should see "26" stamped on the upper part of the carb body behind the throttle shaft.

The answer to your second question is no. The hinge, nose casting, and front casting on the 108 should be identical to your 149.

I am beginning to think the hinge was an after thought by the PO. I was looking at it last night and I don't thing it is the original hinge. No biggie I can drill new holes and move it down a bit to get the adjustment correct. I am going to get a kit for the Carb tonight after work so that should clear up that issue.

I was going to remove the muffler as well cause the elbow in the block is loose and the nut is not in the best of shape but muffler is growed fast to the elbow!

I am a wee bit flummoxed on this tractor now that I had a chance to start digging into it...decals say 108, motor is a K301 (12HP), and I really can't verify all this because the dang serial number plate on the back is missing, rivets are still there! I love a challenge!
I guess I could rebrand it as a 128!!!!!

On the later ones the tag is on the frame next to the clutch pedal, if it turns out you need a tag let me know because I have a nice one on a frame outback.

Anyone have a quick method of separating the muffler from the elbow? It has grown fast and I have been soaking the area with PB and giving it a few good wacks with a hammer but no luck yet! I would like to get them apart without too much damage to the muffler it is still in decent shape!
