Default Perplexed


I have a 582 in good condition and am wondering why are the Red line tractors are special. I'd like to get a 1450 or 1650 for the hydrostatic and hydraulics. Is the 16 hp 582 any better than a 1450 or 1650?

IH and CCC only built one series of red tractors. That's why they are so "near and dear" to us. But really, they are the same as the next two series of tractors.

You aren't really comparing apples to apples. The 1450 and the 1650 are hydrostat tractors. If you want to compare machines, use a 682 or 782. Or, compare your 582 to a 1000 or 1200.

, I'll hang onto it. Did Cub ever have a two lever hydraulic lift/angle control on the 1450 or 1650?

Yes they did, and it was an option on the later 1250's.

The 1450 I just finished fixing is a dual stick/dual hydraulic. I have a power angle blade that goes on it. Gonna mount it today.

Original, 109, a pair of 122s, 124 with power lift, 124 with creeper, 126, 147, 1050, 1200, two 1250s, 1450 Dual Stick , another 1450, two 1650s, Gannon Earthcavator, Haban sickle bar and a bunch of other things you either pull, push or hang underneath.

Not fair - dual hydro!!! Better send it west to me where we get some snow and the power angle can get a workout...

I think the Red 82 Series lawn and garden tractors are special because, originally IH wanted to paint their garden tractors red starting with the IH Cub Cadet back in '60 - '61. So, to have a series come out in IH Red was a long, over due welcome! The 4 gallon fuel tanks had to have been great as well.

The 582 is a killer, boasting a Briggs twin 16, backed by the gear drive transmission! I think it was the most hp. for a gear drive garden tractor IH Cub Cadet ever put out. The 82 Series have a great look to them as well! I actually sat on a 682, and that seemed like a sweet tractor in itself!
