Default 149 center for steering wheel

I would get a small piece of aluminum flashing at the local hardware store. Some of it is thin enough to cut with some heavy scissors, make a template, and then cut it out and fit it in there. If it has some crinkles in it, place it on a piece of ceramic or hard floor tile and roll it carefully with a smooth rolling pin.

Oughta work.
Dave

Great job. Any details on the paint you used?

Eventually I want to get a Cub or two in the 1x8 / 1x9 series to restore. Probably a retirement project, if any are left out there by then (5 -7 years out)! Have an 86 I want to keep original for now, it was one my wife's family used and was given to me to fix and use.

Here is how I decided to make my template. Will pull the tape and apply it to the metal and mark it. Best part of this is you are able to get the screw hole exactly where it needs to go.

Looks like a couple good ideas from Dave and Dwayne. Looks like the way to go for finishing up the steering wheel. Thanks Guys.

The paint was done with a spray gun. I used Valspar Tractor and Implement Paint with Valspar hardener. Transportation Yellow and IH White.

If you look, you can see the rebuilt edges of the fiberglass dash.

Boy that looks really nice Kratt.. Excellent job!

I bought a 149 last year and have pretty much went through all of it to make it dependable. Now I'm looking for a 128 to restore where I can tear everything down, then I will go back and give my 149 the treatment it deserves.

These things sure can get addicting!

Kratt

That is an awesome job. I like all the contrasting colors. All yellow is too easy. You have a great looking piece to be proud of. I hope mine looks 1/4 that good someday.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
