Unless you are a real craftsman fan i would think you would be way better off with the 1250.
I would still drive it and try it out first. Just my

The 19 hp engine on the crapsman is probably about equivalent to a Kohler 8/10 hp.
The "trade" really depends on if you like to work on or mess with tractors or not. It's hard to tell what may or may not be "wrong" with the 1250. If you like working on tractors then yeah, go for it... If you just want to climb on and cut grass, then this trade may not be for you. Depending on the condition of each, I would probably go for it. |

Hands down, even if the cub wasn't running it still would be a deal! Only problem would be listening to your wife complain at you for a month because you have no way of cutting the lawn!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
