I have to remove the drive pulley and grass screen from an old 7HP Kohler (and then the tins will be free).
I have the crank nut out. I can get the drive pulley to rock on the shaft a small amount but I cannot get it to slide off the shaft. I can't get the tins off to get something behind the drive pulley to pry it out (gently) as the grass screen is larger in diameter than the opening in the tin. I have read this thread several times, but while this unit came loose easily once the crank nut was off, mine sure isn't . https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...t+grass+screen I found the drive pulley on ebay so I can now visualize what's going on with it being indexed to the crank https://www.ebay.com/itm/27644522534...Bk9SR9Lm0PCBZA Hints appreciated .

The pin (in Picture) is about 1/4 inch steel.
It fits into a hole in the steel flywheel. If everything were perfect and new it would slide right out. But if yours is anything like the picture the only thing that will help is patience, perseverance, lots of PB Blaster, and maybe some heat. |

Thanks... Maybe I can get the flex nozzle of the can of Blaster thru the screen to the general area of that pin. It's possible I can locate the bulge in the hub with a flashlight through the screen so that I know where to shoot the loose juice.
It's always something (the front pulley on both of these engines aren't going anywhere either but that's another story) Thank you. Finding that ebay photo at least helped me visualize what I was up against.

(those front pulleys aren't going anywhere either)

Assuming you are talking about the basket pulley,

The basket pulley and the starter pulley are one welded assembly, and not separable.
And the driveshaft hub on the rear is pinned to the flywheel and must, and tread lightly here, pull STRAIGHT OFF without turning or you will bend or break the pin or break out the hub where the pin is inserted. |
