Default New Cub 104

Haven’t been on and posted anything in a long while but I finally have time to get on and share my new addition from over summer. It’s a ‘68, third owner and it was originally used on a farm. It came with a 42” deck and blade and the original tire chains in the original bag. After mowing with the deck it came with for a while, I figured I would use my 48” with bad spindles so I swapped spindles and have been using it ever since. Also been using it to plow snow here in PA

Nice 104, even nicer seat, rare to see the original seats on them at all let alone in great shape. I have found the 10 hp Kohler has no problem spinning a 48” deck on my lawn.

Yeah I was surprised myself when I first saw it at the condition the seat but it’s got a big split now. I sat on it on a really cold day and then came the oh no moment. But I’ve found that it has enough power to go through swamp grass with dull and nicked blades

You did well, too bad the seat split, I remove them and put a newer seat on it as the edge of the seat is hard on the butt.
Nice deck on it too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
