more than likely the hydro lever linkages are worn (ball joints). Another good possibility is the trunion is also worn.

i redid my linkage on my trunnion a month ago on my 125 and it was night and day difference, now granted mine had 40 years of wear on them but now it works the way it did the day it was purchased. while i had it all apart i changed out and replace the springs and spring buttons, on a 125 this is a major PIA because there is no access tower and every thing must be pulled apart to get to everything and while starting it i was wondering if all this would be worth the effort and i can tell you i would do it in a heartbeat.
the results were well worth the effort

So should I just replace everything? 1450 has pretty easy access.

on mine springs and buttons were a cheap easy fix 20 bucks for the 2 springs and 2 buttons, only hard part was tear down and welding that needed done.i do not have a mig here still stuck in the 70,s i guess, so i did the weld filling with oxy-acetylene and a coat hanger then cleaned everything up with a grinder and file for a snug fit but not tight. reasembled and worked like new.
