Default Mower Deck grease

What type of grease do you use for the mower deck bearings? My book doesn't say.

I looked thru a few of the manuals listed here on implements, and found something that says #2 multi use lithium grease. Which for some reason I had a can of in the shop.

I use NOTHING but synthetic stuff for every application in the world. Been using it for over 25 years. All except for the Hydro oil that I just replaced.

IMO:

Synthetic by far beats all oil based & lithium base's. Proven fact.

Guns,
Fishing reels,
Cars,
Truck,
etc.

Heck they issue nothing but synthetic oil for the maintenance of the M-4's for the military.

Don't wanna get into no comparison's with others but I wish they made it so I could drink it.

As long as you grease them often, it doesn't matter too much what you use. I use all-purpose with molybdenum in it, and I try to grease every 3rd mowing or so.

It is probably to often, but I give them a couple shots before I mow every time. It is just part of my pre inspection. Check gas ,oil , give the pre filter on the air filter a quick look, kick the tires, grease deck bearings and front axle spindles. Takes about 3-4 minutes. Like I said it might be to much. But my machines are old and I like to keep an eye on them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
