Hi I'm looking for a machine shop in or near Westport MA. I'm only 15 so I cant have my parents drive me all over the place!o
I'm looking to get my K301AQS (1250 Cub Cadet) bored out .020 "., get my crank ground .010", and get my head milled. If I were to get it milled does anyone now how much I can go without hitting the valves with stock adjustments? ![]() |

1250cubcadet, I think that I remember an E-bay listing for small engine machining from a very reputable individual with excellent credentials for a reasonable price (under $75) just to get his name out there. Of course you would have shipping cost, too. I don't know what your budget is, but it might be worth looking into. Hope that helps you with a lead.

You don't need 'more power'...a fresh 12 hp will do everything your tired, worn engine can't. I would only mill the head enough to clean it up and flatten it.

1250cubcadet:
I agree with Matt. A newly rebuilt 12HP will have all the power you need. You will notice the difference between the old and new motor.

Thanks for all of the fast replies. Well I may not get the head milled but I still want to get it bored out 20, Which would make it a 15 or 16hp thats what she needs(well thats what I think). With my snow plow(in raised position) on and my speed control lever in the fast position it will die out if on a soft surface like grass or a couple of inches of snow even at full throttel, I no my head gasket has a small leak but it i not enough for it to lack that much power. I no it is the hydro taking all the power that is why the biggest old style cub cadet with the standard trany only has a 12hp which is the 1200 quietline and the smallest motors they put in a hydro tractor is a 12hp-16hp. Thats why they made the cub. super and the newer modles because they have more hp. Thanks to all the members on OCC who replied.:biggrin2.gif:

Actually a 109 has plenty of power wth a hydro and a smaller motor.
I was able to pull a very large amount of stone boat weight with my 1250, running well but stock... Your minor head gasket leak and other issues are cutting your power way back..... You will be pleasantly surprised with what a qualty rebuild will do for you.. Take your time and do it right....you won't be sorry. A suggestion on finding a good local machine shop....ask your local small engine guys who they use..and ask at your local NAPA store. I tried a google search, any of these places sound familiar? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...AAAKoEBU_Qcutc

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
