Not sure what this sound is when cranking but it doesn't sound good. Doesn't happen all the time.

Not sure what you're hearing Jim? If anything I heard some belt slippage I think during one of the cranks but other than that seems normal? Check belt tightness on starter generator

Maybe a humming voltage regulator or the hydrastatic transmission?

I think Alvy has the best guess. I couldn't really tell what that noise was.

Thanks guys. To me it sounded like it was coming from the hydro. Depending how much of video you watched, it seemed the sound amplified when the tractor was set in motion.
I got some carb work to do as well on a side note. Won't run past idle for more than a few seconds without shutting off with a loud backfire |

OK just went back and rewatched. The noise I refer sounds like a squeel and can be hear @ 0:02 - 0:03. Additionally , @ 1:11 when I try and throttle up, the tractor cuts out (dies) and that noise is evident when it stalls? Would a belt be slipping when stalling?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
