Default Picked up a 374 Haban

Okay, I have a few questions?

I picked this Haban up off of Cl and it is different than the others that I have.

I'm missing the mule drive but I'm going to see if the guy has that part yet on the 1872 he pulled it from. Is there anything different on the mule drive needed or is it the standard one? I have a few laying around that might work if they are the same.

No holes, just some normal rust and a few spots that are a little heavy.

I didn't tear into the spindles yet but they seem like they are in pretty good shape and so are the pulleys. They will be getting new bearings and seals.

Looks like I'll be cranking up ole sparky to fix this.

What are you guy using for blades? Do they make Gators for them? TIA.

Todd...save your money on the castors....unless u have an inside source for plating. Hit them with that zinc galvanizing spray bomb. I think that looks pretty factory if u ask me

Todd, this is where I got my hardware done for the original. I thought it was reasonable, compared to the locals.

Thanks for the info guys. Dag, I was thinking about the spray bomb's. We sometimes use those at work when rebuilding a cooling tower fan. I'll look into that.

Todd, thanks for the link. I may see what they can do......I know I need to
I was also looking at something like this to use.
http://www.caswellplating.com/platin...ting-kits.html

It looks like on mine there is a slight gold color probably from some type of cadmium plating.

That is the round decal I need. Does anyone make those? Maybe I'll call Maple Hunter and see if they can.

Sprayed the last of the mule yesterday and it's getting harder to find days that are warm enough in my highly ventilated spray booth. I heated the parts by the wood burner and busted out the $10 HF spray gun and had pretty good results.

There are different variations of the 374 deck. Yours looks like it has solid bones. Check for cracks at the 4 bolt holes of the bearing cups. Look to Sam's threads for reinforcing the back lift plate. Make sure the lift brackets are trued up and hanging points are too worn. I just use the standard $45 3 blade set from cub. They have a hardened version for much more money. Never investigated the gators. Oh, and congrats on picking up the big grass killer!

That is a great deck Todd!

Check out Sam's links... as he said... He's got you covered

I kept eyeballing it but didn't really need another one and it would've been a haul for me to go get it

Glad you got it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
