Just got this 125 about an hour from me. Cleaned up ok. Needs the usual hood hinge repair. Was hoping the seat was going to be better. It will look good next to the 105. Will see if she will start tomorrow after changing oil and the usual prep. Oh yeah, was full of gas but smelled like turpentine

Terry that's real nice, congrats. That can't be original yellow can it? Looks like a repaint but they did a good job if they did

My 125 is my do-everything workhorse. I'm continually amazed by how much it can do. Great find!

I started on the 125 by removing the broken hood. Tried to move the hydro lever but it was stuck. Kroil and a screwdriver wedged in the friction disc area fixed that. Pulled the choke and it was stuck. Got that soaking. Tried the throttle and was stuck also. Pull the carb off and put on another. New battery and turned the key, nothing. Figured the switch is the culprit after the stuck cables. Must have sat outside for a portion of its life. Hot wire to the coil and short cable to the starter and she's alive. That's all I wanted to hear. That's my favorite part, making something run that people gave up on. Hydro works too but I've never had one not after changing the fluid and filter.
That's all I will do to it for now I need to finish the 105 first. Just wanted to hear it fire up so I know where I'm at with it. Thanks everybody for the kind words

Arguably, the finest cub that IH made. That appears to be in really good shape, so hopefully it won't too much to get it back in action! Nice find and haul to add to your collection. Let us know when she breaths new life.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
