Default 782 going back together

I have a thread here somewhere on the early start of this build, but I work so slow its lost somewhere months ago. The original tractor was a true basket case red 782 combined with a yellow 782 that had been run hard and the snot beat out of it. Putting some snot back in it ....

Did the seals in the hydro, and the axles get new seals and bearings, trunion (was in bad shape), and springs. New gaskets all the way around, and some powder coat of the smaller pieces for a little dressing. Pics of it dry assembly loosely (helps me figure out if I have all the parts!)

The fun part is that its going back 'together' instead of the 'still taking things apart' direction. A turning point.

it was fun to get some shop time. Soccer was delayed this year because still a lot of snow on the ground, but this might be my last block of shop time. A little pic crazy.

If the whole tractor is going to have that attention to detail (color), it will be a masterpiece!

X2!

I admire people with the patience required for this magnitude of work. I can't wait to see it all together

I'm really liking that hand-hammered paint you've used. That stuff is really tough, too.

A little puttering in the shop this afternoon to have an excuse to stay out of the humidity.

This one is moving back together a handful of pieces at a time. The good news is I am in no particular hurry to finish it, cause then would just have to tear another one apart (will either be the 149 or the 1811/2, will decide which when the time comes)

Some drive shaft parts. Foot rest plates. The dash tower painted and back in place.

next is the hydro lever and putting the steering column back in.

Or maybe I will spring for new tars and do the rims. Would look better sitting there without those rusty rims.

steering column (just putting it in this thread for continuity). I should create a new thread with the project from beginning to end.

Of course, I should do a lot of things...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
