Default Look what followed me home

I found this on CL this week and couldn't believe it. It took the guy 2 days to get back with me and I figured I missed it. He was the secound owner and said he purchased a new green tractor at a box store. This thing runs like a top, no smoke and idles excellent. I love the sound of it with that huge muffler. He asked if I wanted to drive it and I said no I'll take it. He was asking $300 and I gave him the full amount. I guess he thought I was going to try and low ball him but I am more than happy with the deal and I think he is happy he got the full asking price. I know that there were only 4005 of these built and this one is under the first 500. What price are these things bringing in other areas? How did I do? Thanks.

You did great. That's one of the nicest original tractors I've seen in awhile. Wash it, polish it with rubbing compound, and wax it, and it'll look almost like new.

That is a nice original 169 wow. I paid $900 for mine but it had a 44a deck, qa42a blower, 1a tiller, 42 inch dozer blade, brinly hitch, brinly cultavator and a brinly plow. But I had to drive about 600 miles one way for it

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
