Default Lights of a different kind

OK, we have been through lights for our tractors, now help a brother out for my shop.
First, I'm looking for good screw in bulbs. That's what I have in the ceiling is eight fixtures. Used to be a guy could get good 100 watt bulbs and they seemed they would last a good while, now these new curly style things give off a weird color, and don't seem to like the cold and hot.
See in winter sometimes my shop don't have heat for a couple days, get's down to say 40* and them damn things don't last very long, and ain't cheap either. But I noticed even this summer I've been using more than should be.
Alright, you all get what I'm looking for. A good, long lasting, bright bulb....
I'm not going to change out to tube types or anything crazy, just want a good screw in bulb

Todd, just trying to help. How about "outside flood bulbs" ? You know, they're like 4" around, but still screw into regular 110 sockets. Might make a good winter shop bulb. Check walmart,.....

Todd:

Yes, those CFL aren't any good for cold ambients. They have a "warm up" time and there lumen capacity is greatly reduced as the temperature falls.

I personally have not used these yet, but my next replacements, I'll be looking at LED's bulbs. They don't have the problems of the CFL's. They only issue is the initial cost. Once you get past that investment, they say you can expect 15 to 20 years of life out of them plus, there is ~80% reduction in operational costs.

Yep thank you EPA. Glad I stocked up on the old fashioned bulbs.

I may try some LED stuff at some point.

L E D bulbs do the same thing in the cold but the get brighter faster.
if you can find some 130v bulbs that are 150 watts they would last a loooooong time.

Just have to know where to look Since the 120V incandescent are no longer allowed to be imported, they are now 130V industrial lamps

You can purchase them from MSC

If you look for "Rough Service" bulbs, you can still purchase 100 watt incandescent bulbs. I get them at my local HVAC supply store. A quick look on Amazon shows that they have them as well. The rough service bulbs are made for portable drop lights, so they typically last longer than the standard bulbs.

They are also used for machines such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, ect. and come in 75watt too. I've had one in a drill press for 10 years.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
