I bought my first cub a little over 2 years ago.A 1964 100. Then it began...... I have since bought many, and sold many. I have had a total of 13. Currently own 7, but 2 of those are going down the road. So I'll end up with 5.....maybe
List in order of purchased 100 1650 86 147 109 1000 100 149 1872 1650 124 2082 125 Have yet to own a red one. I've seen a 582 and 682 for sale close, but I wouldn't get one unless it was a 782. Hydraulics is a must for me. Let's hear your story. |

I've owned probably 30 of them and every series except the red ones.
I think I have about 25-26 of them now. Maybe 10-11 of them are Cyclops. |

Back in the mid 1970's my grandfather owned one. I can't tell you much about it other than it had a manual transmission. I learned to drive and cut grass using that tractor. I am still looking for some pictures within the family that may or may not show the model number. I know for sure that pictures exist, I just don't know if they are at an angle that will show the model number.
As for me, I bought my first one 3 or 4 weeks ago. It is a 1969 104 with a 38" deck. Mower and deck are both in good, solid condition. No major rust, dents, or holes. All could use a good cleaning and eventually a tear-down and repaint. I have begun ordering parts for it, such as 3-point hitch, lift spring, ags and tri-ribs, etc. I got the ags mounted on the wheels yesterday and hope to get the fronts done tonight. Then maybe get them on the tractor over the weekend. I see several implements in the future, as well as possibly more tractors along the way. Right now it is just a great hobby for my son and I to enjoy together.

I've owned probably 60-70 cubs. I don't bother counting anymore. I currently own 5. 2072, 782, 169, 122, 108. 108 is getting tossed soon tho.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
