I've been searching here and other places online. I'm wanting to add a little more power to my 127. I do only mow with it, so I don't actually NEED more power, but I'd like to add a few more horses if I could. I like tinkering and hot rodding things. But with my 127, I don't want to ruin it. I'd rather do bolt on type things that can be taken off, without trashing it.
So far, I've added an LP head. I've had this head for a good amount of time. Recently, the tractor blew the head gasket, so I figured I'd throw the LP head on since I had it apart. I thoroughly cleaned all the carbon off the top of the block (piston, valves and such). I can't necessarily feel a difference in the power, but it is more responsive, which is a plus. I still want to be able to hop on and fire it up when ever I want without it becoming a pain in the butt. Where I live, we have "Twin City Days", which is a parade/car show/tractor show type thing. I drive my 127 there and park it with the big tractors. A part of me wants to throw a cam in it, just for the sound of it, but I don't know enough about these small engines to do so. With all that said, does anyone know of any "bolt on" goodies I can throw on this?

Most collectors/enthusiasts that I know of like the attention that a rare feature or attachment gets when they show their tractor. Probably one of the neatest mods I have seen is a raised cub for crop rows in a a strawberry patch or an articulated cub. Perhaps I am not understanding your question correctly, I am not for sure if you are wanting more power out of your cub or more of a wow factor for your cub.....

The tractor show part was just a bonus, I guess.

When your talking about an engine that only make 12hp to begin with there's really no way to just bolt anything on to give you 1 to 5 more HP, if there was everybody would be doing it. If you wanted to get into the internals you could get those gains but that's not what your looking for.

Thanks, Olds. That's what I was looking for.
I've thought about an air filter and coil upgrade. Figured they'd compliment the LP head, but, I'd prob be wasting my money and peeing in the wind. Like I said, I don't need the power, I just like messing with things.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
