Default Is it possible to Lock the rear end on a 102

So I bought 2 tractors awhile back. a 102 who I had planned on turning into my offroad mower, and a older restore of a 1 I call the cream puff. The 102 was bought just for cruising the woods. In fact I have already taken it on a nice logging road adventure, and it did alright opther than I believe some of the mud got into the throwout and we were having clutch engagement problems at the end, but I really need to lock the rear end. I'd rather not weld it if I dont have to. I dont think I could ever get rid of the old girl, it starts up belts a lil smoke but man is it a runner. I have more problems keeping my little deere gx70 running these days than that ol rusty beast.

Did they ever make a spool for the 3 speed rear end?

Can someone explain (or point to an explanation elsewhere) on how to weld the rear end? I assume this disables the differential function?

Yes it will give you full time posi, as mike showed in his pic just weld up the spider gears but try not to weld on anything but the gears as it will be a huge pain to disassemble later.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
