Neighbor has a 126 that shuts down after 15 minutes of cutting . He had a bad exhaust leak blowing into the air cleaner which I thought was the problem . He said he wrapped the leak but said this was not the fix . Any info on this problem would be greatly appreciated . Thanks !! CCS

it might be the coil, ive had a few that would get hot and stop working therefor shutting off the tractor.

The coil was hot for sure as well as everything else on the entire motor . Untouchable ( would take the skin off your finger) . I asked if the 126 had a fan on the driveshaft but he couldn't tell me . I'm just going to pass on any info I can until I can get the tractor back over to the house .

You won't find a fan on the driveshaft of a 126 unless somebody put one there. And if there was a fan, it won't do diddly poo to cool the motor.
Overheating can come from a wide range of problems that a few people will chime in. Among one I'll offer: cooling fins clean behind all tins (tins better be there)!?!

There IS a fan on the Kohler K series motors. It is part of the Flywheel. This information is clearly stated in the Service Manual.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
