Smile New to forum

Last week, I bought a Cub Cadet 1863--my first cub--and I am ironing out the small issues/problems with it, but I can tell it is built on a different scale than my Sears Garden Tractor. It's a beast. I can see why folks become so obsessed with these tractors. This forum has been helpful in deciding on tractor as well as fixing things.

Pretty easy. Get the pic on your computer, assuming you're not using a phone. When you reply, hit the button "go advanced" Scroll down where it says attach files, then hit the button "manage attachments" Find your photo on your computer and upload. Good luck.

That is a clean looking 1863. They are nice. I have one that my Dad bought new in 1998.

Thanks. I was looking at a 1450 Cub, but the owner wanted too much. A new one was more than I wanted to spend with a kid in college. Had some idling issues at first and starting/pto issues. Found ignition switch and wires to switch were corroded and damaged. I'll be replacing them tomorrow. I cut grass with it yesterday, and the quality of the cut compared to my Sears tractor with new blades is a night and day difference. Really impressed with Cub Cadet. Always thought as a kid they were the best. Deere people may argue this, however.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
