Looking at the diagram I don't understand what "b" stands for and where it goes.
it is shown going to the negative side of the charge indicator then to the ignition. my question is other than the hot wire that comes off the starter solenoid,Does b get any voltage via the key or what? I think mine is bad on a 109 |

"B" on a Mechanical V/R, usually stands for......Battery.
In the 1x8/9 Series, "B" is always hot, as it is direct to the Battery.

The short (usually green) wire goes from the neg side of the ammeter to the B terminal of your key switch. It actually brings the 12v TO the key switch.
When you turn your key to start or run, it connects the "B" terminal of the key switch to the "I" of the key switch for power to your coil for ignition, and also "B" to the "S" terminal of the key switch to put 12v to the small terminal of your solenoid switch when you turn your key to the start position to start your engine. The 12v battery gets to the green wire on your ammeter's negative side, through your ammeter from it's positive side which is connected to the same big lug on your solenoid switch as your positive battery cable. Also, Along with the green wire from either the neg side of your ammeter or the "B" of your key switch is a gray wire which connects to the "BAT" terminal on your voltage regulator. To put it simply, that connection sort of powers the voltage regulator. Hope that helped some. |

Roland is absolutely correct, the "B" or "Bat" terminal on a Wide Frame voltage regulator is ALWAYS hot.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
