Default Let me get straight to the point

i been lookin', but i haven't seen any definitive answer --- or it could be that i'm too dense to make sense of what i'm reading. Either way, can somebody give me an idea of where i'm going to find the serial number on my 100? i figger it's gotta be on the frame rail somewhere, but i can't find it on the machine, nor can i find it (or an idea of it's location) here on the forums.

This inquiry probably belongs somewhere else, i don't know. Let's just call it NOOBism... i'll get used to the forums at some point.

Until then, tho... where is my serial number? Or production number? Or whatever IH in their infinite wisdom decided to call it?

I've never owned anything other than a 149 or Original... If its anything like the Original, check on the side of the GR Housing... Otherwise, I have no idea and someone should be along to help...

Serial number is located on the right side of the transmission while seated. It can be in 2 different locations depending when it was built. Early SN were on the gear reduction housing and later were near the raised square block on the transmission housing.

SN will be 65458 to 127160 if it is the orginal trans.

Clean it well and rub some grease on the numbers if you cant read them. Good Luck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
