I am hoping someone can help with pics. I have just restored a 1980 IH CC 782. My problem, the break pedal does not return all the way to the top. I am almost sure the return spring is correctly located, however, I would like to verify. Also, I am wondering if perhaps I may have forgotten a second spring? The current spring is attached to the pivot arm pin on the left side and is connected to a smaller hole in the frame that is located almost to the top. It just doesn't seem to have enough pull force to return the pedal. The pedal freely moves and is lubricated just fine.
Any suggestions or pic will be appreciated. Thanks |

Looks good. Maybe you could also provide a picture of how you connected it. Here is what I found on partstree.com

Maybe the spring is worn ?? This is for the internal brake setup , which i assume you have , and not the disc brake style. |

Not sure where the spring hooks onto the frame , but you say you have the spring connected to the left side while the pic shows it is on the right. Left/right is determined while sitting on the tractor.
Wish i had a tractor easy enough to get to so i could look where the spring hooks to the frame , but someone will come along with the info. |

Thanks, but I don't think the spring is the problem. But it is a possibility. One thing that struck me are the diagrams provided. I also found these and if I am understanding them correctly, my unit was not taken apart with a small return spring. See attached image. Look closely just about the hydo line and behind the input shaft to the pump, you can see a dark looking "line" in the pic which is the return spring that was on this tractor. It leads down to a pin in the connection rod from the pedal and up to a hole in the frame. I am becoming suspicious that this is not correct, based on everything I am finding.
If someone could perhaps send me a pic of theirs. My unit is serial number is below 720000. |

check the tag on the rearend. that will clarify that. You are right though it doesn't seem to match up with the diagrams.
