I have the oppertunity to get first chance at a running tractor with a working FEL. I have no idea what these are worth. It is an older cub. I have'nt seen it yet, but from what I can gather its a 14hp. Can someone give me some guidelines on price, so I have a place to start?

there are a couple of 149s with Danco loaders near where I live that the owners are asking between 2000-2250 for.

I've seen them go for $1800-$3000 depending on condition and what tractor it's on. The loader unit alone fetches around $1500 around here.

I paid $1800.00 for my 122 with FEL several years ago.
Aside from the "cool factor" if it runs well and works good and you have a use for a FEL, you will never regret it. Find out what he wants for it and then try to get him down on price and see what happens. FEL's are so much better if they are on a hydro!

There is a John Deere 425 with a JD loader that just popped up on CL to day here in Atlanta for $4500 and I don't think it will last the weekend. The 425 is like a 1872 but stronger and with more options on it and the loader goes for $2500-$3000 plus, so basically the tractor is only $1500-$2000 which is a steal if it is in good shape. If you get a loader and put it on an undersized tractor then you will be disappointed. If you can just buy the loader and put it on a good tractor the bottom line is not that important if the work it will do for you is worth the price. Here is a JD 318 that I sold yesterday for $3500 with a Buford Bucket on it which is a poor man's loader but very stout. It has lifted over 600 pounds many times and will reach a pickup truck as you can see in the picture. I completely refurbished the 318 and it was as new. If any of you would like to inquire about the BB go to myfavoritetractor.com and search for Buford Bucket. He might be persuaded to make one for us CC users if enough of us ask. He is getting $1500 for them now but it does require the front mounted four hydro outlets. I am amazed that JD was building these types of tractors in the early 80's with four front hydros and front and rear PTO's. I guess CC entered the market against some pretty tall odds but seemed to do pretty well. I have an 1811 that I love but I have never looked up how its price compared to the 318 or the later 400 series of JD. They were a tough act to follow.

Bought the Cub with the FEL. Haven't seen it yet, but the price was not even anywhere close to what you guys say they were going for. I don't even know what model it's mounted on. He said it was running last summer when he parked it. I'm getting the tractor with the FEL mounted on it, along with another tractor to go with it. He said the rear end slips on the one with the FEL and that I could have the other for the rear end. I have no idea what he means by it slipping. Can a gear driven slip? Maybe it's on a hydro that needs some minor repair, and thats what he's calling "slip", who knows. He dosen't live far and is a friend, so I'm going to have to get over there and look things over, take a battery and gas and see what happens. I'm sure I will need advice and help, so thanks to all for it in advance.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
