Default 169 Questions

Hey Guys , Did all the 169's have the hr. meter in the small panel or did some have them in the dash ????

Also , did the 169's have the Blue stripe down the hood/dash ??

I know they had the 16 HP engine , and the air cleaner/muffler/muffler bracket was special about them , but anything else ???

Thanks ,

Darrell

All 169's should have the hour meter on the small panel on the left side of the tractor underneath the gas tank. 169's also had a blue stripe on the hood and dash, and did not say the word "hydrostatic" under the "169" number. The air cleaner, heat shield (what you are referring to as a muffler bracket) and muffler are also 169 specific.

I don't recall any 169's having any hour meters in the dash, if there was I'd assume it was an owner who put it in after the original failed.

Default Iowa Cub Cadet's herd

IACubCadet ought to know, since he has FOUR (4) 169's in his herd, all accumulated in the space of 12 months or less, if he is the person I think he is . . .

Jeremiah-Yes, you are correct. I did accumulate 4 169's last spring with the help of a good friend in a matter of weeks. This does not make me any sort of expert, just simply stating what I have learned.

I didn't think there was anything else different , but i couldn't remember. This one does have the gauge in the dash for some reason. Would the original gauge have the IH symbol in it ??

Thanks !!!

As Ryan stated, the hour meter/maintanence minder was in the left side cover. A PO must have moved it to the dash, not factory. A lot of the 169 parts can be fabbed. The heat shield can be made. An air cleaner from a 17 or 18 horse can be modified. A regular side panel can be modified by a hole saw and adding the meter. The original 13 fin K341 and muffler are the hard to find, near impossible parts to find. I really don't know why someone's not making the mufflers. Bet they would have a line of people waiting for them.....................

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
