Default hydro pump

I thought Id take a min to post some pics of a hydro pump that Im doing in the shop. This one is a hydro gear but the parts are all the same on our old ones. Basicly if you ever tear into one this is what you dont want to see.

Just thought Id post some pics cause some say I dont like to help people,

The unit will run good for about 15 min then it lost power. Let it sit and it will run again. First thing I did was to cut the filter open to see if there was any metal in it. As soon as I say that I know it was time to order a new pump. I learned this from the guys at cat, quick dignoses for the customer.

Enjoy!

Everything should be smooth. The bearing cage came apart, causing the failure.

All hydros have the same componits no mater who makes it. I thought if youve never been into one someone might like to see one from the inside.

Now on some of the 2000 modle cubs the big box store hydro only has like 7 pistons where the dealer ones have 9, that make for beter control of your hydro stat.

Yep don't change the oil and filter till it craps out. Looks like the charge pump and piston pump are junk. I always cut filters open and look to see if I have a problem on every used Cub I pick up. Learned that trick from my race car engine builder. For you guys that don't have a cutter try Summit Racing or Jegs, best $30 or $40 bucks you will ever spend on a tool. Hydros are almost bullit proof but they need clean cool oil. Running one for 500 hours considering that we only put 50 or so hours a year on them is just plain stupid. Change the oil and filter every 2 years and you will be $$$$$ ahead.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
