Good Deal?

I found this tractor on CL... its a Cub 123 Hydrostatic. It doesn't look like in that bad of shape. Just wondering if ya'll think it is worth the $250? Thanks. Im thinking about picking it up

Looks good to me! Surprise him if you go to buy it and put just a little bit of HEET in that gas tank with some fresh gas to help clean the carb. Caution....just about an 1/8 of an ounce per half gallon of gas and it should fire up. See if you can pick up that 122 as a package deal with the 123!!

I may just have to do that. The 122 is for sale as well on C but he claims it has a blown head gasket and he personally has not had it running... asking 250 for each of them. Seem like 123 would be worth more. Ill be honest... I have not heard of a 123 before about a week ago.

looks pretty sweet! 123 was the first hydrostatic transmission. Almost got one this summer, but it disappeared before I could get to it. Sure seems like a great deal!

it looks good, take 20 dollar bills and offer 200, the 20s makes it look like more.

I would try 350 for the pair.

that 108/6 i was watching went for 285 plus 15% buyers fee and sales tax, i figured it out at about 350.

i am going to look at another 147 tomorrow, if it comes home i will have 3 147's
and 5 cubs all together. think Im hooked yet?

I know how you feel.... I am hooked. The only problem is that I live at home (since I am still at school full time), So I have to keep it to a minimum as far as tractors go. Luckily my dad loves these old tractors too...

He (the seller) said it "was running, but needs a carb cleaning" they all were running at one time. Start low and you can always come up, but don't go into it expecting to pay his asking price.
Is it worth it? Most likely. All depends. But if you can't try it out, how do you know the hydro is working properly? If there's anything grinding in the transaxle? You most likely will have to do a trunning repair, which isn't a big deal, but most need it at some point, unless it's been done already.
And it all boils down to how bad do you want a 123? I like mine, it was rough looking compaired to this one your looking at, but alot of work and some coin to get it there. Good luck with your adventure, keep us posted.
