QL steering column - help
Ok guys,
I'm doing oil change and hydro fluid change this morning. Wiggling the steering column. First, it looks like someone put a bearing on the adjuster bolt. A tad loose, So I snugged it down just a hair more. But, there is lots of movement and it's the steering gear casting is moving relative to the tube. Common problem and what's the best fix?? I can easily see the back motor mounts- the RHS rear is really gone. Rag joints in the rear are showing some wear from the extra movement. Michael

Sounds like it's time to rebuild the steering box. The tube can be fixed by expanding the end slightly with a muffler pipe expander if it's really loose, then cleaning the mating surfaces and smearing some loc-tite over the joint before reassembling.

I think that's probably what is in order. I'm going to do mounts, engine cradle mod(if it's not done), and rag joints. So it's time to do the box also. Functionally, it seems fine just all the movement. Michael
