Default Why is PA the heart of cub cadet country?

I'm new to cubs and I have heard it said here that "PA is the heart of cub cadet country" or if someone needs a new cub "just drive up to PA and buy one". Why isn't it Kentucky since that is where they were manufactured? Is it just because PA was the biggest market during the 60's and 70's for garden tractors?

Also, where in PA is the "epicenter" of cub cadet country? I am guessing that it is outside of Philadelphia but what do I know.

Not sure if PA is the heart of Cub country , but Cubs are pretty thick within 100 mile radius of where i live in Missouri.

I watch a few websites everyday for Cubs/GT's and there is always older Cubs to be bought. I have passed on several for various reasons and hard telling how many i missed out on by somebody answering the ad before me.

I just bought a 149 and an 1872 and passed on at least a dozen more within the last three weeks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
