Default Rotary Tiller Model #1 project

Folk,
Need some advice on this tiller. Its Field Fresh! I have been aging this for about 7-8 years. Is it worth saving?
At this time I have 1/2 can of Blaster invested in it. Plus the time to drag it into the garage, These are heavy!
It is a Model #1 Serial number 13555. Has the extensions on each end.
Tines have some wear, but probably would still turn dirt for a garden. It does roll over, very stiff and slowly Seems that most of the moving parts do move. Nothing frozen solid that I can see.
Was considering this as a future Cub implement project?
At this time I do not have the very important gear drive unit that mounts on the back of the tractor to run one of these So that would need to be purchased.
What would you do? Where to start, and what are the major things to watch for? Thanks in advance for your help.
I have not researched this implement on OCC but know that a lot of folks have them.
Some pictures, at its worst!
Regards,
Chris

Ahhhh, the fresh sent of PB I knew you were going at something else, I have espn I've got one Chris, but all I had trouble with was getting the drive belt to stop slipping.
It don't look in such bad shape, wish I could help out, but I'll sit this one out, off to the side

Todd,
You found me! Blaster has a way of getting into the forum posts!
NO Way! If I am into this then your in too! I am not going to do this by myself! There!!
I'm OK now, just a small temper tantrum
Maybe your kind way of saying that this thing is a piece of C**P, and would make a nice boat anchor or fish structure in the Bay?
I can take it, go ahead tell me!

Save it or Scrap it? We can vote

Regards,
Chris

Looks like it's too far gone to save. I'll tell you what, ship it out to me and I'll dispose of it for you. I'll even pay shipping!

Chris, you should know by now I never say anything I don't mean. If I thought it was junk, I would tell you. Just go down to the hardware or cub dealer and order one on Mon!
To me, if it's no longer avaleble, it's worth looking into. I junked out a tractor once, biggest mistake I made. Should have kept it around for parts. Took everything off I thought I could use, wrong move. A big mistake on my part. There was something I didn't take off, long story, keep it

Todd,
I need to read, and run my fingers less. Belt slipping! Thanks for the warning! I will keep a Eye on the PTO If I ever get it functional again.
Yamaguy,
Thanks! This is going to be a close second! For some reason I went out and loosened a few bolts on the tiller today. I will have some pictures of both the tiller coming apart and the thrower going together in a few minutes. Man I hope I can keep the parts separated I have to go get on the other computer.
Regards,
Chris

Cub123,
You did a awesome job on your tiller! Yea I see it was rusty also but you did a great job on the restoration work! Adding the extensions and sheet metal look real good. Hope mine turns out and works as good.
I noted in your post, same as Todd mentioned, that the PTO clutch needs to be in good shape to run one of these tillers.
Here are some pictures from today as tiller came apart.
I do have all the tin off and most is straightened. Had some severe bends in to portion behind the tiller where the flap attaches. Its all ready to go into the de-rusting tank.
I found the rust holes after banging on the body trying to straighten the back edge. Also found two spots that will need some welding. So far this is about right. I did not get into taking the drive case apart yet. Is this chain drive I assume? I put the belt guard in the tank to clean but not much action I may need to recharge the bath?
Looks like I may need some heat to loosen and remove the tine assemblies from the drive shaft? I have all the cross pins out.
Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
