Got it running on jack stands today, everything works as it should so now I'll get into the fender pan and make up a wiring harness for it. Ran it for about 15 mins and drained the oil in the trans and changed the filter and the oil. No leaks or noise.

Sam, can you recap what models the various components came from? Which engine is that?

The tractor was an 1863, the engine is a 16HP Vanguard out of a 2160, the wheels are JD's. Hood is a work in progress, I had an old Cyclops hood that I cut about 4" off the front yesterday and made a template filler for the front. Think I'll make a grill out of some box tube. Gotta look around and see what will fit for a muffler. PTO is junk also. Think I have something that will work. May paint the hood and fenders black.

Got the wiring and fuel system done and it lives. Next on the list is sheet metal, a hood, a seat base and some rear wheels and we will be off to the races.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
