CAD plans,
Price is sure right! I would assume its mild steel. I used a similar shaped cast stainless elbow, and it was way pricier at about $45! That would make a nice clean looking steel pipe too.

They sell these black elbows at NAPA,the stack is from TSC. I used a straight piece of 1" pipe out of the block.Went together pretty easy.Since I took these pictures I have added a brace to it.Vrooom

I would like to see a nice smooth 45 degree elbow out of the block to put the stack a bit further back towards the air breather. Looks like I'll be making a trip to NAPA for that pipe.

DWayne,
45 degrees out of the block will get you 90 degrees to he side of the hood.
I looked at that option and felt I was getting a little close to the carb. I choose to go about 20 degrees out of the block and the stack came out between the hood and the air cleaner. I ran the tractor for a hour or so and checked the hood decal area and it was not hot. So the idea to move it away from the hood was a good recommendation by the guys on here.
Darkminion_17,
I like the smooth bend look of that coming off the 1 inch nipple.
Was just thinking my cousin said he could make a stainless muffler. I may commission him to make one for the 147. I would just chop the stack back a bit.
Regards,
Chris

Hmm... didn't think about it being too close. There is probably not anything available to buy with that kind of bend. Would have to see if I can get someone to make a 20 degree bend maybe. Just a thought. Thanks for the heads up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
