Default Your thoughts? Terra Grip Chains.

Last year I noticed a guy using these Terra Grips on his Deere. Stopped in & asked his comments. He LOVED'em. Got rid of his chains & has been using them for 2 years. He got tired of chewing up his asphalt driveway & cement walk.

Soooooooo, THOUGHTS?

I think as long as you have, cement/asphalt, fairly level terrain, and not much snow to move they are probably better than nothing. They won't be as good as chains.

Well Nik I guess I would go with the opinion of the guy that actually uses them and likes them. All others are just speculating at best.

Honestly, I'd take a pair. Where I plow, I need more than just turf's or bar tires but 98% of the time, chains are a smudge too much, mostly for the ride quality or lack thereof. I think these would be great for a bit more traction without that backbreaking drink spilling cuss-word-inducing ride that chains provide.

Link for price/purchase option for a set of 23 X 10.5 X 12 Terra Grips. I think longevity would be the key to this product. It's been a while since I've gone a winter without having to replace at least one or two links on my old set of chains. However, this winter I have a new(er) set so let's see how they hold up.

After looking at how they are built I believe I build a set of them with stuff I have laying around the shop. I think they are pretty pricey. Something to think about. I think if you sliced up an old turf tire it would be better than what they have to offer.

Jimbob you must be a brute with your chains. LOL I've used the same set of chains for the past 20+ years and have never broken them or had to repair them.

I will say two things: first, I've never had a set of NEW chains, all have been second hand so who knows how they were treated prior to me. Second, I am probably pretty rough on the chains as I try to push quite large piles until I start to spin That, and in one lane of where I plow, it is usually nothing but ice so I have to push until I get traction. I suppose a new set of chains wouldn't be a bad idea sooner rather than later

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
