Another rare CCC built Cub Cadet was also one of the last - The 2086. It was only built from 1995 to 1997 and had a liquid cooled Kawasaki FD620D (same as John Deere 425) V-twin. Its my favorite Cyclops.

I heard the 1712 and 1812 are rare because of the stuff that was on them. Guys would just buy a SGT for a a little more money.

Roland's tractor is 'correct'. CCC/IH dealers didn't want '784' decals, so they kept the 782 decals.

IH dealers sold the manual lift 682, the hydraulic lift 782, and hydraulic lift -front hydraulic ports '784s', but they wore the 782 decals, and 782D tractors (along with the other GT models) The 782 models have 782 on the serial number plate, the 782s with the front hydraulic ports have 784 on the serial number plate.

At the start of CCC, the CC dealers sold yellow and white Cub Cadets with the same model numbers on them as the red IH badged tractors had, except for the diesel, it was given the model number 882D (along with the other GT models)

Then in 1985, CC dealers sold the manual lift 1710, the hydraulic lift 1711, and the hydraulic lift-hydraulic front ports as the model 1712. (along with the other GT models) The 1712 model also has 784 on the serial number plate, like the red 782/784 has.

I remember as a child going with my grandfather to the International dealer he bought his Cub Cadet at in Greenview IL. I remember very clearly that they had both red Cubs IH's and white and yellow Cub CCC's for sale at the same dealer. One of the reasons I remember so well is because my grandfather got a yellow CCC Cub Cadet and when I saw the red Cub IH's I thought they were the cats meow because IH was my favorite farm tractors as a child.

This was sometime between 1985 and 1986.

I think many IH dealers became CCC dealers when IH sold Cub Cadet to MTD.

Default End of Era

1980s was very dark times for IH.UAW strike against IH in 1979.Very few 82 series was built by UAW locals 817,1336,2138 and 2236 at Louisville Works. Some units during the strike were built by office employees.MattG...CCC built more Reds than IH at the new Brownsville ,TN plant. Last unit that rolled off the line in Loiusville June 1981 I think was a 782and I had a archive photo of that unit. But I do have a pic of the last tractor built at the Farmall plant.

I'd love to see the archive photo of that 782.

What if an IH dealer became a Cub Cadet dealer when IH sold the line to MTD?

We used to have a 1211, great tractor. My dad bought it new with a 50" deck, it struggled to turn that deck if the grass got a bit high, would probably had a better match with a 44" deck.

They would not have both been at the same dealership, unless the CCC built tractor was a trade in, or, your grandfather bought a 'left over' IH built Cub Cadet.
He bought a brand new 1811 around 1985 or 1986, I still remember the dealership delivering it. At the dealership there were rows of brand new yellow and white cubs and rows of new red Cubs. I am not mistaken in my memory because I remember it vividly to this day. I also remember getting brochures for both types of cubs and IH tractors while at the dealership. Im not going to get in a disagreement with you about it, I know what I saw and if you dont believe me thats up to you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
