The pull starts are cool! I would just pull the S/G and use the pull start, Because I don't think the S/G Is going to have the guts to turn it over on the small pulley.

I dont mind hand starting it, and I would just assume have it with just the recoil. how do I find a schematic for mine with just the recoil. And _DX3_ I do see what has to be done to get the belt off but since I'm going to only use the pull start then I plan on just cutting the belt off.

What a crazy setup.
Do you know if the old spark plug wire that comes out from behind the blowers housing is still there?

yeah the old one is still there and there is also two other wires that come out with it. I also dont no if I can use the recoil because it does not grab the inside of the pully anymore to start it, the metal is worn down to much so now I'm trying to get it running with the S/G but now i think that I have a bad ignision coil, because I can't get any reading on my multimeter when i put it into the coil.

There is a company that still sells the dogs for the pull start. But the drive cup should also be replaced. I have a 3 digit pull start O that would start on the first pull. But I haven't run in in a couple years. I'll see if I can find a part # for ya.

The other two wires are for the ignition switch. The original coil behind the fly wheel may be bad,do you still have spark on the unused plug wire? The drive cup and dogs are out there.good luck.

if the unused spark plug lead still has spark, then can I use that with the S/G?

I don't think so,It is either one or the other. The coil under the blower housing is controlled by the points to fire the spark plug.the way it is now,the points control the exterior coil, getting power from the battery.somtin like that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
