OK, so how are you supposed to adjust the thing!!??
Where did you come up with that anyway? The angle don't look right and is not deep enough. Is that the original on the right? What's wrong with it? Looks good from here. |

The one on the right is the new one!
I placed the used one (left) so that you're looking down the edge showing the flats that have been worn in it. If I rotated in 90 degrees you'd see the angle being the same as the one on the right. It's just been wearing away for 50 yrs at the same two surfaces. The steering box is back together ( now and seems adjusted well enough until I get it on the tractor to see for real ). Now waiting on driveshaft and replacement for the replacement fan that arrived broken ![]() Wiring harness arrived today (thank you Mike).

Did you press the pivot plate flat? I remembered reading about that here when I had mine apart. Man was it warped from the factory welding!!!

I sure did use the press to flatten that plate. It was very warped...... now not.
I ended up in the ER with 10 new stitches in my forehead though, so progress will be delayed for a couple days. (chain saw issue, not cub related)

Actually , could have been worse...part of a tree that was pinned down snapped back and clocked me on the forehead. I was a bloody mess.
Fortunately, I have a thick skull.

Replacement for replacement fan arrived. Head (mine, not the Kohler) might need a rest till I get back from a trip to the left coast to help a family member though. Driveshaft from Jeff is on the way.
The home of mission creep!

As long as you place the the original cam follower stud 90* from it's original position it will be like new. Just be sure to tighten the jam nut securely.
But I see you already have a replacement. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
