Default 102 Steering column rebuild
Hello,
Rebuilt the steering column in my Cub 102 today. Don't know if this was done before but I wanted the top of the column to look orignal but also to have a ball bearing instead of a bushing. So I used a dremel tool and ground out the center of the original bushing retainer. Switched to a sanding drum on the dremel and sanded down the lip of the new bearing just a little bit. Installed the new bearing in the column tube and tapped the modified bearing retainer down over the new bearing and on to the column. The retainer now holds the new bearing in place and once the steering wheel is installed it will look original.

its hard to upgrade and still look original sometimes but your idea does both.

i am hoping the bearing makes a big difference. I might have to do this too when I put mine in I like it.

everythgin i seem to find is the smaller wheel bearing style

Default Steering Column Rebuild
cjrolke, You can use a 3/4" Cub Cadet front wheel bearing. It fits a little loose in the steering column tube but the modified bearing retainer will hold it in place.
