If the pump does not have the drain hole on the bottom put the gasket on so that it covers the 3 holes in the adapter. The newer pumps don't have drain holes in the bottom, the oil returns to the case through the bearing. The holes in the gasket are a weak point. 1st pic is of the pump with a torn gasket from my 2182. 2nd pic is the adapter housing. The red circles are where you want the holes in the cork gasket to be as long as your pump doesn't have the drain hole.

Thanks Sam. If I recall correctly there are no return holes in the pump. We will be very careful replacing the gasket. The one that is leaking is a new gasket so we will put on our investigator hats on this replacement because it is a lot of wrench turning to get to it.
