I know the aluminum would be very pricy. I have no idea about pricing on castings, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if I got a quote for $300+.

I am pretty sure he had to change the dash tower and the steering column as well.It is not a cut and dry swap but will be doing the same conversion on my 1641 this spring. That looks so much nicer than plastic junk that was on there.

Yeah, I saw that. Hydraulic lever, among other things, is a dead give away. Still not a bad option though.

It looks like the spool valve needs changed too. Will that work on a tilt column?
This is where Cub/MTD stinks! You would think they would still make these parts available but they don't. Most of the 3k decals are already NLA. I guess they are still thinking you throw them away after 5 or 10 years and buy another.

I'm in the process of changing a Cyclops over to the 82 series sheet metal. The dash towers are definitely different. I'm doing it the hard way. I'm modifying the Cyclops dash tower to accept the 82 series parts. This way I'll retain the tilt column and the Cyclops hydraulic controls.
It's been a challenge, but I think the end result will be worth the effort.

I bought a 1864, it's just grown from there. The Cubs have replaced old Chevys as my hobby/passion. The only car I have left is a '67 Chevelle wagon. Seems like a good trade off. I can put five Cubs where one car sat and there are no titles or license to fool with! Tim |
