Was able to get back after it tonight. Steering box parts came in today. My local dealer had the starter gear kit too. I got the steering box together, adjusted, and installed tonight. I pulled the drive shaft out, cleaned out the old grease, put on some new grease, and put it back in. Then I put the fender pan and seat on tonight. Any luck and this one will be running by dark Sunday night. Wife is nagging at me to go to the big mall tomorrow for new shoes for the kids.
 Took a picture of the top starter mounting bolt. Someone has been there before.

Not too bad. Smoked a little when it first ran but it cleared right up. I lost the dang wire that runs from choke plate to the carb/butterfly choke shaft.
I put in a piece of bailing wire for now. Have to pick one up for it. It steers like a dream with the new steering parts. I put the 42 in deck on but decided not to get it dirty. PTO engages well. Need to review how to adjust this series hydro linkage. Handle is stiff at times and not real fast in forward. So a little more tinkering, carefully reinstall the plastics, and then by the road for sale.

Did some more tonight. Worked on cleaning up the plastics. Hood and grill aren't the best but they will hold for a while- for the new owner. Took Sam's advice again and bought a seat cover.

Not sure if you want to go to the trouble but that plastic will shine like new if you buff it with some medium compound and then finish up with some fine polish..

Working on plastics. Engine oil and filter changed. Thinking about putting the Cub Cadet scripts on the sides of the hood. One is missing the other has no blue left.
My question is, does anyone have a source for the "push nuts" that is way cheaper than Cub's $2.39 a piece? I am sure I will need all six.
