Default CC 1512 diesel

I just came across a 1512 w/Kubota diesel, garden tractor for sale and was wondering if they are much better than the same year Kohler powered models. This one is $1000 with several new items that the owner was going to restore it with. The engine runs fine and it has front hydraulics, two new tires, a 44 inch deck,a new wiring harness that he claims cost $400. What can anyone tell me about these things?
Thanks,
Rudy

The model 1512 was offered in the model years 1985 - 1987. It had a 15HP Kubota Diesel in them.

In the same model era, Cub offered these models with the Kohler M-18 or M-20 gas motors.... 1812, 1872, & 2072

I knew Todd aka Oak was going to reply to this. The wiring harness is $185 not $400 but his other prices seem to be in line. It could be a good buy if the seller ever tried to sell. Todd was waiting with cash in hand and it wasn't enough to buy this 1512. I even helped price out the missing side panels and was trying to locate a hood for it until the owner went mia on a "business trip". Rich Patton of patton acres one of our fine site sponsers even has a set of side panels for it for $65 without shipping.

We also heard last weekend at the redneck plow day that it was already sold but it's really hard to say. Todd was even lucky enough to talk to the phone the guy was holding to his ear.

No hard feelings or anything. I hope you can get it that's a good buy for that price.

I did forget to add that I was trying to talk Todd out of it if he got it.

I kinda figured that. I maybe a little sore after that one but oh well I'll get over it.

I hope you plan on sticking around with us for a little while. Lots of great info and even better people.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
