I just bought a 1641 for my son. The tractor is in good condition with only 486 hours. The seller changed the motor oil and sharpened the blades. This weekend I would like to adjust the valves and service the hydro. Is there an online manual for filter part numbers and type of fluid to use. I perfer to use NAPA products as there is a store close by, anything else is a 20 mile drive. If anyone has any suggestions as to anything else that I should look at before we put this machine to work. I would be happy to listen to your advice. Thanks, eddy622611

Cub Cadet 1641 NAPA hydro filter #1410. Hy-Trans fluid for the hydro can be found at a Case-IH dealer.

NAPA will also carry your air and oil filters along with ignition parts and carb parts. They have a great small engines catalog. I was lucky enough to get one from my local NAPA dealer.

I use the NAPA blue label straight 30 and 10w30 oil and their gold series filter are great(basically WIX filters) I use the FIL-1348 oil filter for my 1872. and as above the 1410 is the hydro filter.

Do you have by Hy-Tran fluid from the dealer? Is there not an acceptable equivalent sold at NAPA? Thanks, eddy622611

Dealer or an IH-Case dealer. Nothing else comes close.

Thanks DX3. Do you know how much it takes. One trip to the big city is bad enough. I don't want to go twice because I didn't buy enough. eddy622611

You really need to hit a Cub dealer for everything. You're going to need a rear cover gasket. The hydro filter is pretty much the same price there as it is at NAPA. For your fluid, it is called "Hydraulic Transmission Fluid" at the cub dealer. If it's that bad of a drive to get to a cub dealer, you can always order it online. http://www.cngco.com/ That place should help you out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
