127 starting issue
OK... for the past couple days I've been driving Jeff (Teet) crazy with a different problem a real "Duh!!" , so I'll post this one on here. Hopefully it's as simple.
The 127 will try to turn over when you turn the key, but it doesn't make any attempt to hit or fire, if that makes sense... - checked the plug, it's clean, no carbon. - verified the hookup on the coil. Points, condensor on the (-) and the black wire on the (+). - all terminal connections are very clean, no paint or anything... What else should I check? It's almost like it's not getting any gas. Should the bottom of the carb bowl have gas in it? When I painted the engine I did not remove the carb, but I did tape it off and wrap it in saran wrap. So could there be something there?

FIXED IT!!!! It was 2 things, one legitimate and another D'oh!!!
The points needed scrubbed a little... and... tractors still need gas to run  Yes, I will admit that I spent all this time and frustration and I did not put gas in the tank!!!

Hey Gary, have you checked to see if it is getting fuel?.....:biggrin2.gif:.....I've done something similar. I always shut off the fuel when I'm done with my work and once I couldn't figure out why I was only able to drive about 5 feet and then it would die on me. Then I got some smarts and realized it was the fuel shut-off.........Live to learn and learn to live!!! Glad you are up and running!!

looking on it now, it would have been great to have a camera getting the entire 3 hour ordeal.... I had put just enough gas in the other day to make sure I didn't have a leak from the fuel bowl down. So when I saw the gas in the fuel bowl.... I don't know how many times I pulled the plug and it was dry as can be. I kept saying and saying "it's not getting gas....". Sure enough it wasn't getting any gas. Get in such a hurry to get things done and over you walk out the front door without any pants!

Thats great GC. I have done many "dohs" with my stuff. I changed my battery one time, and the tractor would not crank, brand new battery......Guess i should have hooked the cables up !!! doh !!!
