|  104 Question 
			
			Hello  My PTO is staying on continuously and I have adjusted the arm to make sure it pressed the button in and it looks like it's stuck being pressed in. Do I need to rebuild it or adjust it? Thanks

			So you move the handle and the arm bushes the button against the springs and you can move the handle the other way and the arm pulls back from the spring? Am I reading you correctly?

			I have adjusted the engaging lever to press in as far as it would go and the PTO never pops out it just stays pressed in and does not turn off when the engine is running.The engaging lever makes no difference.

			The manual says: " With the hand lever in the forward position (clutch fully engaged), adjust the turnbuckle so there is 1/64 inch minimum clearance between the wear button and thrust button. Secure turnbuckle with the jam nut." I hope this helps.

			So far here I'm confused, you say  "My PTO is staying on continuously and I have adjusted the arm to make sure it pressed the button in and it looks like it's stuck being pressed in" and "the PTO never pops out it just stays pressed in and does not turn off when the engine is running.The engaging lever makes no difference" "Pressed in" is the disengaged position "out" would be the engaged position... Is there ANY "air gap" between the pto thrust button and the fiber button on the rockshaft when the rockshaft is tipped forward? It almost sounds like the turnbuckle is tightened to the point where the rockshaft won't let the spring push the center out, or the spring has been bent to the point that it will no longer push the center out... I guess it doesn't make any difference... it sounds like the three bolts in the pto are too tight and won't let the plates come apart so it will disengage, or the plates and the disk are rusted together, or some other thing that I can't think of right now. If there is no air gap between the two buttons when the handle is pushed forward the turnbuckle is too tight. If the thrust button in the pto doesn't move when the rockshaft tips forward and there IS air between the two buttons then SOMETHING is wrong with the pto. If the thrust button in the pto DOES move when the rockshaft tips forward then there is still something wrong with the pto. In any event, my guess would be that the pto is bolted together too tightly and the disk will not turn freely between the plates. In the pto system, there are two seperate adjustments. One in the pto itself (must be done with the pto removed from the motor). The other is the turnbuckle in the linkage. If the pto wasn't adjusted properly before being installed, nothing you do with the turnbuckle will make it right. |

			Yosemite Sam Thanks for the advice I have never worked on a mechanical PTO only electric ones. I want all the imput I can get before getting out the service manual and fixing it.
