I’m on the hunt for a creeper gear for my 126. I have found an 82 series one on marketplace. Would that be sufficient?

You may have to modify the handle but I am not sure if you may have to use a different length driveshaft.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought you had to cut the shaft down for any creeper attachment. By modify the handle, do you mean basically bend it? Sounds like it would work with my machine with a little “customization” ![]() |

That creeper gear can work for you, but there needs to be some modifications done first.
Firstly you'll need to cut the driveshaft short. When I installed the creeper on my 128 the drive shaft had a shallow groove machined into it to mark where to cut it, and was already drilled for the spiral pin. Secondly, you'll need to extend the cut-out in the tunnel cover for the handle. The handle on the aluminum creeper gears is farther forward then on their cast iron counter part.

I don't think that lever on the 82 one will line up to the slots on your machine. You will I believe have to carefully cut a new and different slot.I think I would pass on that purchase.Ask here on site, somebody might dig one up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
