Hi,
last Saturday, i got my "new" Cub Cadet "Original", it is in a terrible Condition, and will need a lot of Work to bring it to run. I don't find a ID Plate at the Tractor, only at the Motor, it's a K 161. I don't know the Year of Buildt. Engine cranks, Coil is missing, Steering Column have much much play, no Clutch, and no Brake going. Look at the Seat Pan, o think, it's not the Original one, is that right? mfg Georg ![]() ![]()

Congrats on your Original, Georg! You are correct, that isn't the original seat for the Original. They had a solid pan seat with no holes..

The serial number is not on a tag, it is stamped on the right side of the gear reduction housing. Nice Original.

That's awesome Georg!! Seeing Cub Originals in other countries is cool!
First picture is of serial # stamp and 2nd is one of my Originals and that is what the seat should look like, without the welds hopefully. Have fun and look forward to the restoration pictures ![]() |

thanks for the Answers. It will not give Pics of Progress in the next Time, i will make the Tractor to Pieces, and want stored it in, because, i don't have Time to work at it. In my Garage waits a IH 453 for make ready, and sell, and my IH 633 E (Fruitgrowing-Tractor), is waiting for his Transmission.
Next Year in August, we have the big european Mc Cormick, IH and Case IH Meeting, here in Germany, i will visit it with my both Cub Cadets. @Hubman, i'm not new at this Forums, i'm User since October 2008, in December 2008, i got my first Cub Cadet, it's a 782 from 1984, the "Original" is my second one, and my next one, i hope is a 149, or 169. I found the Number of my Cub, it's 11278, mfg Georg

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
